Baker McKenzie has released the 10th anniversary edition of its annual International Arbitration Yearbook, an in-depth report reviewing significant developments in international arbitration over the past 10 years across 47 jurisdictions.

Section A of each country chapter gives an overview of legislative changes affecting arbitration over the past decade, and also covers relevant arbitral institutions and the development of their rules. Section B summarizes important court decisions over the period, covering those that are noteworthy for their contribution to arbitral jurisprudence. In light of the 10-year review period, section C completes each country chapter by taking stock of the arbitration scene in the country today. It comments on trends such as legislative and judicial attitudes towards arbitration, and other matters relevant to both end-users and practitioners of arbitration.

The 10th anniversary edition also contains two special chapters. One of these is on the globalization of international arbitration, taking the reader on a tour of the international arbitration landscape, with insights into arbitrators, arbitral institutions and procedure. The other is on the rapidly developing field of investor-State arbitration, and summarizes the fundamentals in one easy chapter.

“Taking stock of the last decade has really enabled us to show how much the arbitration landscape has changed in that time,” said Leng Sun Chan, SC, Chair of the Firm’s Arbitration Practice Group. “Having over 300 arbitration lawyers located in 77 offices, we are well-placed to combine in-depth insights with breadth of geographical coverage of many markets in this annual Yearbook.”

Initially published by the Firm’s European offices in 2007, the Yearbook has expanded to include developments in Asia, Latin America and North America, and has become a valuable resource for clients and colleagues in the global business community.
