This 28-Hour Initial Mediation Training is designed to provide a firm foundation in the mediation of court disputes, with a blend of theory and practice. The training will introduce skills and approaches designed to assist in the mediation of court-annexed cases. Specific topics to be covered include: mediation norms in court-annexed cases, pre-mediation process, active listening, use of caucus, effective inquiry, and working through barriers to an agreement. The training will also address issues of ethics, identity, and culture in mediation. A certificate of completion will be issued at the conclusion of the program.

Steve Adams is a Knowledge Lawyer at Baker & McKenzie, based in Global Services Belfast. His role involves managing and supporting legal content projects, training and knowledge initiatives for Baker McKenzie's Global Dispute Resolution group, which has over 900 lawyers in 72 offices across the globe. Steven qualified as a lawyer in Northern Ireland, and previously worked for an international law firm, specializing in commercial dispute resolution.
