This event will discuss the current status and future development of dispute resolution mechanism for disputes arising from offshore wind power in Taiwan with an emphasis on arbitration.

Starting from 2016, Taiwan launched an ambitious program to promote offshore wind power as a major energy source and aimed to be the most attractive offshore wind market in Asia. As stated in the plan promulgated by the Taiwanese government, it is expected that over 700 turbines will be installed in the Taiwan Strait by 2025, which will bring Taiwan’s overall capacity to 5.5GW.

The largescale project will obviously be highly relying on financing. As non-resource project financing is still new to Taiwanese, we would like to introduce the concept of project financing, and how it is being adopted in the offshore wind industry. We would also like to discuss the dispute resolution mechanism adopted in the project financing contracts.
